Today you will walk by or talk to a wonderfully creative Columbus-based artist. They are members of the community and culture of the city. It could be your banker, your favorite bartender or the manager of a small retail establishment where you buy your wears. How can I be so sure? In this creative, smallish big city, the artists are everywhere...
The more we talk about art with folks, the more talent and artistic diversity begins to emerge. Painters, photographers and visionaries fill their homes and apartments with their own works, waiting for the right venue to show the world a deeper vision than you see on the surface. They don’t necessarily come across as artists, but their visions and artistic abilities must be taken seriously. Part of the UAS goal is to “reveal” this art to the city that supports and inspires these creative individuals.
The creation of arts and culture has everything to do with
the people who live, work and thrive in its downtown.
As our network grows, we look forward to maintaining effective communication with the arts community of Columbus, Ohio. With the success of the first two Condo Hops, as well as the infamous "Gallery Hop," we've recognized a need for art and cultural awareness within the central Ohio population. Plus, we need something to do between OSU Buckeye football games and Blue Jacket hockey matches!
As a method to facilitate these events, we started a non-profit organization called CMAC or the Columbus Metro Arts Creative. We are working hard to build this network to increase, not only traffic to our web sites, but to the emerging Downtown Columbus Residentual uprising.
