Urban Art Series Description
UAS MISSION: Create a venue that allows both amateur and professional artists to collaborate in showcasing or selling works of art, while also sharing creative ideas, technical abilities, and implementation strategies within the network.
This mission can be achieved by promoting these five goals and guidelines:
- Bring new and inspiring art/artists out into the public eye.
- Show art in unusual locations or situations in order to attract a diverse crowd of viewers.
- Create a reason to bring people into the city so as to support the arts and culture of the place we live, work and socialize.
- Form meaningful networking bonds with businesses, real estate owners, organizations and individuals interested in promoting these ideals.
- Impact society positively through the careful implementation of this program.
Originally conceived by urban artists, loft living merged living quarters with art and production studios to create a new type of lifestyle property. It only makes sense to bring these two elements together to exhibit urban artists work in this authentic venue.
What is an urban art series event ?
Simple really. Artist, designers, free thinkers, and business owners partner together to create unusual art events in different locations around the downtown area.
This event began by studying what has been successful in bringing culture and awareness to the creative resources of core urban neighborhoods. We recognized the Gallery Hop of the Short North and the Haus und Garten Tour of German Village were both extremely successful and iconic events.
An idea emerged. Unite these two event types in their geographical middle. Having downtown condos and lofts transformed into art galleries for the evening creates a unique downtown event that appeals to a diverse crowd. Interested patrons will enjoy the opportunity to see some of the finest urban living spaces in Columbus, while studying local artists works in an urban, loft style setting.
Why are these events so important?
The most effective way to raise awareness of a cause is to hold an event that entertains and educates the public. In our case the cause is; The development of a sustainable cultural and residential environments in downtown Columbus districts. This infrastructure "push" will benefit all our citizens as we "pull" in artists, galleries, shops, creative businesses and entrepreneurs needed to support the kind of social environment that our Capitol City wants and deserves.
How will this particular event help the cause?
Attendees of this event will get the opportunity to check out unseen local arts while getting a peak at amazing downtown living spaces that most folks had no idea even existed. The buzz generated by this quarterly event will bring partnerships to our cause, while positively impacting the social and cultural sustainability of our downtown area.
Who will be involved?
